The works in the series The Zen Moment can serve as a connecting bridge between my previous projects Shifting Roots and Roots & Bonds as well as my subsequent work Roots & Waltz. The title The Zen Moment has deep personal and historical meaning because it was created during the global pandemic, in a phase characterized by uncertainty, isolation and upheaval. At the same time, the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, an event that had a shocking impact on the world and deeply moved me as an artist. Furthermore, the title reflects my creative process, which is characterized by particular attentiveness and dedication. For this series I worked with a combination of instant photography, painting and drawing to give the individual works of art a layered expressiveness. A central role was played by the careful, almost meditative selection of suitable finds from my collection of natural objects. Each of these objects was carefully chosen to resonate with the artistic composition. This process was characterized by an intense connection to nature, a slow and conscious search for harmony and balance in each individual work. Overall, The Zen Moment combines personal reflection, artistic experimentation and the need for inner peace in a turbulent time. The series not only represents a bridge between my projects, but also a moment of pause, connection and deep reflection about the world and my role as an artist in it.
