Roots & Waltz is a forest walk photographed in the Danube meadowlands in Vienna. The project started during the pandemic when a friend took me there. Growing up in the countryside and living in Vienna for over 30 years, I was used to leaving the city when I longed for nature. It was at this point at the latest that I noticed that friends who grew up in the city of Vienna go to the Praterauen - Vienna's green lungs. I've always found this area to be a bit spooky, but I knew the forest there was very wild and the formations I usually look for would be awesome. My work reflects my life. I want to convey a mood, but not make a concrete statement. After the pandemic, the war in Ukraine began. Conditions had changed for the whole world. I asked myself about the essence of life, the roots and the future of the planet. The forest has always given me a lot of energy and I felt my soul begin to dance when I walked through the Danube meadowlands. Dancing like the Blue Danube Waltz.
